The main island of Madagascar is the fourth-largest island in the world. It sits in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Africa. Its capital, and largest city, is Antananarivo.
Madagascar is currently divided in to six provinces;
Antananarivo, Antsiranana, Fianarantsoa, Mahajanga, Toamasina & Toliara. These provinces are subdivided into 22 regions.
There are two seasons: a hot, rainy season from November to April, and a cooler, dry season from May to October. South-eastern trade winds predominate, and the island occasionally experiences cyclones.
