Oceanside: BaNZ & billie together again!

Banz & billie haven't shared adventures since the US Thanksgiving holiday in 2018. However, they reunited in 2019 Week 36 in the wonderful California surfside town of Oceanside in northern San Diego county! Boy, did they have fun. BaNZ even brought his ever faithful Trust Buddy. Her name is Miso and you can see her in billie's arms. She's a small dog with all the heart of her big buddy, Roxy Ridgeback (whom outweighs her by 75 lbs [34 kg]). To be respectful, Mrs. BaNZ and baby BaNZ were in tow, too. No one makes anyone feel more welcome and comfortable than the BaNZ's.

billie was on a business trip and participated in meetings at the US Naval Base Point Loma and US Naval Air Station North Island while visiting with BaNZ. His immediate impression is "there is salt water and boats everywhere!" These photos provide evidence. With many of these boat-related photos, you're able to see exactly what billie saw while eating al fresco lunches and dinners.

This is Kellogg's beach in Point Loma. It's a pleasant little place.

The hangars (downward opening parabolas) across the water and adjacent buildings are part of the Naval Air Station North Island. billie actually parked and walked close to them while going to different meeting locations.

Now, let's get to some of the fun and colorful stuff right in Oceanside.

Here you'll see the mural on the exterior of the Flying Pigs Pub, a very cool surf shop that also services Harley Davidson motorcycles (two inside on this day), close up of surf shop van image (Old Guys will recognize), Hawaiian music maker (beautiful voice), a few additional artistic images, and the Oceanside Beach as seen from the Oceanside Pier.

Some additional random snapshots for your viewing pleasure. If you do not know, Oceanside is a cool, little beach town. It receives the Seal of Approval from lil' Miso - except for the local pier, that is. They don't allow friends (e.g., dogs). [scowl]

Finally, the $64,000 question! Did BaNZ and billie surf? Yes! BaNZ could be found daily at their favorite break: San Onofre State Beach (aka San O). billie finally decided to get wet and these these two steadfast friends enjoyed late afternoon / evening surf at Dana Point located between Laguna Beach and San Clemente. They had an absolute blast!

Going to Barbados in December but I think I'll be ready for a short trip out west in February, it's a possibility!

We went for a week in SD. But I think a short weekend will work because your arms will be so tired after the first day that it will be shaking. Feb is when the big waves hit. I've surfed the winter swell in SD a few times and I got really scared. I'm thinking whether to take the massive drop on the lip or the great white that might be lurking around the water.
