Shapers in Ireland

Long time fan / lurker but now finally joined.!
I searched for shapers in Ireland but couldn't spot any older posts. Has anyone got any experience buying from or recommendations?

I'm an east coast Ireland novice who has been enjoying the learning curve this past year. I am close to a break that gets some 1-2ft mush, so I was looking at picking up a decent log. The surf shops tell me that shipping longboards from the UK is costly.
It even makes buying from a local shaper slightly more attractive when it comes to a board of say 9'4. For an extra 100 - 200 cash you could have something made local to your own liking.

I am only a novice and I get a lot of fun out of my Bic 8'4. I don't have a desire to buy something priceless. But I also feel bad buying something from the far east, that might be made by kids in sweatshops. Any input is greatly appreciated..

Where are you in Ireland ? There are shapers aplenty and many shops with suitable boards! Answer that and maybe we can connect you!

Are you talking about boards made just in China or other parts of the “Far East” ?

I had China on my mind yes. Apologies I didn't want to sound derogatory and I don't tar all companies with the one brush.

I know it is not exactly what you asked for, but Bill Atlee from Escape Surfboards in Cornwall is a well recognized Longboard Shaper. I am sure he can ship a board to you for less than 100GBP.

I have a lot of sympathy for the BIC 8.4. That is a fun board indeed!

It is worth looking a shops in Bundoran and Lahinche, This site has surfboard offers in the shop, also there are offers of free shipping on orders over €50 within Ireland.
Just google shapers in Ireland and there are also secondhand boards available.
