Surf's flat eh? Well, you are online, ready to rock and roll. Why not try these free surfing games that are available on the internet. Yep, we said FREE! Click on the links and play the games. For that extra touch of realism get a friend to tip water on your head when you wipe out.

City Surf
Picture an urban Severn Bore and you'll get the idea. Surf your way around what looks like the Manchester ship canal. Can you handle it?

Fun Surfing
Sam's surfing game. Complete wit another rip roaring surf soundtrack, and by rip roaring, we mean terrible.

Pull out all your tricks in this great looking surfing game. As you progress, take on the harder levels until you reach master status.

Surf from t45ol.com is simple to play. Amass the largest score possible by collecting icons while performing airs.
Bogun Surf
Bogun Surf is a playable surf game, easy to control and has all the game play elements you would expect. Lots of barrels on offer.
Surf Point Blue
Ride the wave and collect as many smiley's as possible. This one's probably the worst of the lot. In fact, it is for sure.
Roaring Waves
Similar to Kelly Slater on the PS2, this one is one of the better games. Carves, air grabs, floaters - it's got the lot.
YouRiding
The current highlight of online surf games. Surf the world, take part in surf comps. Also a forum, snowboarding and bodyboarding.
Wipeout
Wipeout! Carve up the wave, ride the tube and perform radical maneuvers with this big wave surfing game. Sounds good? give it a try.
Discovery Surf
Not much of a surfing game but a gentle interactive game on how the best surf is created. Check this one out, you might learn something.
BBC Surfs Up
BBC Surfs Up game. Control the little surfer with the mouse and avoid all the water traffic. It's as crowded as your local break!
That's pretty much it for the surf games that we have found online. It's a mixed bunch really. If you know where other games are, drop us an email so we can include them on this page for the benefit of all sofa surfers out there.
What about Offline?
How can you get enjoyment from the sport of surfing if you are thousands of miles away from the beach, and god forbid, you don't have an internet connection. Why not get out the Playstation and get stuck in.
OK, it might not be the same as heading down the beach on a beautiful barrelling offshore day, but it beats watching teletext. Get a couple of your mates round and spend the day smashing the lip. It's a great way to spend those flat days, especially when you have already completed your surf preparation.
When looking for something good to play, make sure that it's a multiplayer. With a multiplayer you can compete against your mates. A surf contest in your own home — loser makes the teas! Also, if you own an XBox, see if you can dig out an old XBox Freestyler board. Perhaps get someone to spray water in your face as you ride. Hours of fun after a few cans (of coke if you are under age!)

Most are pretty old now, and were available for the Playstation, Playstation 2, Gamecube and Xbox. The genre is supposedly about to get the update treatment in 2011 with the release of a new game for the PC and PS3 and IPad. It's called The Surfer™. Here's the blurb from the developers
"You’ll experience the mind blowing competitive thrill of surfing incredibly dangerous waves, but without the need to die trying!"
