Hi fellow surfers, I need your feedback. I was in search for the quickest way to check the surf reports and found it annoying to screen for the highest swells, so I decided to set one up myself. I have set it up to send one message on Thursday with the forecast of highest swells on weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun) for all surfing spots in New South Wales, Australia.

See here: www.specificfeeds.com/highest-swells-fo ... -australia

Do you find it useful? what can I do to improve it further? All feedback is welcome!! Cheers, Ali

Alisid , strange forecasting process you have there,it looks like you extrapolate from Magic Seaweed but you miss some vital information, swell direction as each beach responds to some swells better than others or not at all. You fail to mention wind direction , next most imortant factor!
To me it looks like any other swell predicting website of the sort you couldn't be bothered looking at yourself.
Sorry in my opinion nothing new or unique in your offering.

Oh one last thought thankfully not everyone surfs on weekends so you miss 5 out of 7 of your potential days for clients.

jaffa1949 , thanks for your valuable feedback. You have raised some great points, swell direction and wind direction are indeed important factors.
Okay if I include these metrics and make it for the whole week (7 days) instead of just the weekend, would an expert surfer like yourself would find it useful subscribing to such an email alert? Do you find the highest swell idea useful?
The idea is to save time going through forecasting websites looking for information each time before you head out to the beach, instead getting it in your inbox each week and plan ahead.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

No sorry allissidd, not really as most wouldn't consider me an expert surfer or nor would I fit a demographic that would like an email or text alert, it actually would curtail the daily drive to the surf check spots, drink coffee and prognosticate over surf and the decide yea or nay.
I'm all for tech heads coming to the surf by forecast alerts,as they miss all the times that don't fit in with any of the modelling.
That my friend in my mind is the game set and match.
I added this thread viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20501 which show Magic Seaweed extracts from other sites which show that most sites are playing Chinese whispers in forecasting so I'm wondering from your post and not being aware of the critical elements how much you actually surf and I think your credibility may be showing.
