Can you ship a surfboard overseas in a shipping container? I have a fiberglass board, and the move will take place at the end of October from the Caribbean to Texas.

Hi Lucy, short answer yes, board bag them or bubble wrap, then if possible shipping box them and top load Australia to Austria via Suez canal Bremerhafen. and then semi trailer five boards done that came through totally safe!

Yes. I shipped a fiberglass shortboard from Barbados to Houston in a container. Removed fins, bagged it, pipe insulation on rails, foam on nose and tail, then double boxed it coffin style. Ask the crew to top load and label fragile. Scrape wax and toss in desiccant packs since containers get hot. Late October can bring delays, so leave buffer.
I declared it as used personal effects, took photos, and set an insurance value. No duty on mine.
I booked with ThreeMovers for that route and they handled crating and top loading. They guided the forms, and the board arrived clean.
