surf rack for car/ wetsuit

hey guys i was just wonder if you got any sugguestion for a surf rack for a car. i dont have a rails or w.e. just a normal car. im just nervous cuz i always just use my dads van but i dont think that ill be able to use it this year. so any suggestion would be sweet.

also if anyone out there surfs east coast would you suggest a wetsuit for like may june? or should i just save my money?

maybe get removeable roof rack system? depends how often you'll be using it etc. and most probs will need a wetsuit on the east coast in the summer, i think its an all round year in a suit there

My little beach car gave up the ghost (cracked the radiator and half the exhaust system fell off after going over a speedhump a bit too fast. Oops!) so am gonna use my 'normal' car for the time being.

Havent got roof bars for it, and the old ones wouldnt go anywhere near fitting, so bought a single set of Tiki BoardRax (30 quid). Spent ages trying to figure out how to put them on (the instructions are shite!) before getting my brother to fit them. Not the ideal thing for a three door car, but seeing as my cars got the vertical roof runner rack things, he fitted them on that.

Seems pretty secure, no wobbling and no noticeable vibration on normal road driving (weve got an island wide speed limit of 40 anyway...).

Would only suggest them as a means of getting yer boards to and from the beach, certainly wouldnt leave them on anywhere - aint gonna take too much work to cut through the straps.

I just have a soft rack (a whole load of straps that runs round your car roof, going inside at the doors, and then another strap on top to hold the baords on) and a board bag that I put both boards in (no fins) with loads of towels at the front to stop any chips etc.

Seems to work fine...over the 400 miles from Cornwall to York anyway!!

I would invest in a Thule rack system, a bit pricey but well worth it !

The only problem with soft racks as I discovered recently, if you don't have rails and have to put the straps through inside your car, if it rains they leak water onto the front seats, or their occupants.

What car do you have?

umm ill be using my moms Oldsmobile...but ill be getting like a 98 civic over the summer

but ever now and again ill take my 65 mustang down...so yea

im goin to need something to kinda fit all of those

I have the removable soft racks for my car and they work well at 40mph or under (i have an 8' board). I stay off of the highway with them, but for side streets, it's fine. They only cost $30 and i only have them on the roof when i take the board out
