i want to get a board bag, just wondering if i can keep my fins on my board while tha board is in tha bag, because since i got my new board i've put my fins in and havnt taken them out yet, find it annoying putting them in and taking them out all the time, especially after a cold surf when hands get cold

depends on the type you get. if you get a gusseted one then yeah fins on is fine. i think most of them you can leave fins on. jusr make sure you take them out if ever you go on a plane otherwise no fins when you get off at the other end. i never take my fins off for travelling with boards on the roof so it should be fine.

yeah should be fine for everyday use. if ur wanting a bag for serious travel it could do with being 10mm but im being picky n theyre expensive. depends what ur after really. you can definately pt your boards in that with fins though. james

thanks, nah its only for day to day to and from beach, but my board fits in my dads car just need it because i dont trust my mum it its not in a bag after last board!!

i cant manage to get my fins out of my board, they're suppose to be easy in and out no screws or anything, i just can't manage to pull them out no matter how hard i try? any suggestions? (didnt want to make another post, people might start getting annoyed with my silly questions)

about the fins er one of my boards is like that theyre clearly supposed to come out but i have no idea how. i think that boards staying at home if i jet off anywhere anyway. my other one is futures but i dont have a fin key.

Some of them slide forward/backward and then pop out from the backside.

i've tried all sorts to try to get them to pop out but they just dont might go and ask at local shop

Back on the boardbag bit, if you want to keep your fins on (no reason you shouldnt) make sure the boardbag is several inches longer than your board. Ive got one bag the same length as the board... which then doesnt fit with fins on

What type of fins have you got that wont come out?

well, the board i want a bag for is my "mick fanning model", shaped by Darren Handley, and the fins are mick fanning signature fins (the board is also the signature board) the fins look like this (just different make)
dont think i need a fin key anyway, theres no where to put it so i assume i dont need one

hmmmm they look like the sort thats held in with grub screws.. any chance of some pics of the fins taken from both sides?

On the subject of board bags...

do you need a huge board bag when you put your board on top of your car or would a board sock be ok for short distances? wasn't sure whether any vibrations from the straps could burn a hole in it or something?

I wouldnt with a custom (one stone and you're sunk!) but NSPs/BICs are fine with a sock or without any bag at all. Never had a problem carrying Mrs DBBB's.

They're kinda weird lookin.

I just had a look at the speedfins website out of interest.
Looks like the way you can get em out is by lifting the back of the fin, shuving a wax comb under there and pushing the front up and over the comb. Kinda like a leverage system.

Are those the ones that pivot or something? I remember them doing something weird
