Removing Poor Ding-All Ding Repair Removal & Scuff Question

hey all,
The rails of my board got a few scuff marks on them (not entirely sure how as I generally keep my boards fairly shipshape, store in bags etc but there you go) so I decided to ding repair just in case the glass was compromised. A couple almost-comical questions ensue:
1) Do scuffs (eg, no visible shatter or crack, but scuff in the resin color revealing fiberglass texture) even need to be patched over?
2) I used Ding-All and suffice it to say the repairs do not look/feel incredible (despite combo of guidance from the package and the Ding Repair Scriptures). Since I'm wondering if they were even necessary in the first place-- eg, the water tightness of the board may not even have been compromised-- what's a good way to get these unattractive band-aids off? At places the cure is so brittle/poor that I've been able to pick lil pieces away; other patches seem more firmly attached.
Don't wanna make things worse while trying to undo this- please advise! (& please note I do not have a power sander ; ))

It depends, but did your nail "catch" when you dragged it over the area ? Was there salt crystals around the area ? Can you post a photo ?

Did you use the Sun-curing Ding-All or the catalyst/resin mix Ding-All ?
How far did make the "scratched up zone" ?
Did you make a "grind down zone" ? How deep ? Down to the fiberglass layer ?

There is an art to doing sun curing ding all patches which I have not acquired. My repairs tend to not last well but they are good for a quick return to the ocean. It's all fiberglass and resin so you can sand it off and if the fiberglass isn't damaged that should suffice however if damaged you need new fiberglass. In my hands sanding off the quick repair and applying a layer of glass or two is a longer lasting solution. But as Waikikichan has mentioned if you sanded down to the glass like a repair should be done then you need at least resin to cover it if not more fiberglass
