Hey I’m kinda new sorry if this sounds dumb but Is my board good to surf with a ding like that or do I have to get it repaired as soon as possible

Kinda blurry photo. So, here's a not too blurry answer. Apply mixed resin and hardener on it. If you don't want to mix your own, then apply the sun (UV) cure resin that contains fiberglass fibers. If it were me, I'd sand this damage down and apply two layers of 2 ounce glass (or maybe even 1 layer). The other way to do this is to apply one 4 ounce glass layer. Whichever, sand well following curing: 100 grit to knock down high spots, 220 grit to refine things (stop here, if lazy), 600 grit to finish. Naturally, the 220 and 600 grit papers require water and a drop of soap. All this can be done in a jiffy!

It's not good to surf with a shatter like that as sea water can work it's way in in time and weaken the area, but also you can cut your hand.
But the question should be as a "kinda new" surfer, should you be riding a pointy nose ( I suspect ) shortboard, even if it didn't have any damage ?
