I'm fixing a wavestorm softie, is this a waste of time?

Hi surfers,
I've been fixing boards all my years since a young teenager, I've recently received a broken into two pieces... the 8' wavestorm (costco) softie, and I just can't resist trying to fix it.... and try make it indestructible....

Is anyone else also interested in this type of project?

Ive managed to remove the 3 plywood stringers from the foam... and have purchased some solid redwood stringer material that will do nicely.

I also want to straighten out the rocker just a tad.... and give it a slight single to double concave in the bottom.

Is this crazy?

One of the great things about the human endeavour is that they like to work to achieve goals that, illogical, improbable, unlikely or nonsensical.
Your quest to turn a Costco softy around fits that bill, but good on you
I enjoy seeing a project that is nothing but it's own reward come to fruition.

As you go post pictures, not to show us the way but just celebrate human strangeness!

Might I also suggest using a tantalum/boron matrix metal hot spray mix to coat any dings, smoothed by a plasma deposition of true carbon-fibre to envelope a full replacement set of single strand optical wave-guide grade glass-fibre stringers to facilitate non destructive flex - for a bit of 'feel'. If in doubt as to increasing dimensions - give the legendary Roy Stuart a shout - he builds really big foamies [ ]

Hi Surfers!

It's been a few years after first posting to this site (actually I forgot I had posted here).

I should post an update on what happened.

I quickly repaired that broken Wavestorm and absolutely loved the ride and the board, it indeed became almost indestructible! The only drawback was that it became heavy. I want to post a couple video links of surfing with that board,

Soon after making that board my go to long board, I longed for a lighter one and actually bought a new one.

It sounds a bit absurd... I know, but I'm curious to learn as I try out ideas I get from looking at surfboards, the Wavestorms are cheap sometimes free, when their broken. I've spent many hours messing with those boards now and I'm glad I did. I keep improving my designs and methods. It's something I feel is worth while for me, maybe not that smart.

"Not smart" is what they said about the person who decided to attach some wheels to the bottom of a boot or the dude who put some nobby tires on a racing bicycle and took it off the road. In spite of how amazing your glassed Wavestorms are, I think your real talent is directing video. From the sound tracks, to the slow motion shots, to the girl playing guitar on the pier . . . I think it's obvious that you're a natural director. Hey, how about a Wavestorm video for this tune
