hahaha, down here we don't need booties. Water is not too cold. At least, I haven't anyone with them.

Actually, luckily, we don't get many hurricanes. Just a xxxxx load of wind all year. Occasionally we will get feeder bands but that is about it. I think are a bit over-due for a hurricane, though.

I am actually not considering getting them, I was just curious.

I surfed a borrowed 15 year old longboard in cali last week, and it had these MASSIVE lumps on it. My friend told me that this was an old technique where something called 'home wax' was melted in drops and dripped on the deck first with a blow torch, and then normal wax was applied. I really liked the effect - HUGE knobs of wax.

Anyone heard of this?

haha that's weird. I just go horizontal and then vertical or diagonally vertical and horizontal.

Anyone ever remove their wax anyway? Dont think I removed mine in a couple of months.

They say to strip and rewax once a month  . I guess it depends on how much you surf. The only time I really change mine is either when the wax gets that real grungy look or when I have to move from softer wax to a harder wax. Stripping the old is easy. Out in the sun for 5 minutes and off it comes real quick.
