Foamie repair

Hey all... I did a search that turned up sort of inconclusive.

I have a puncture in the foam part of my foamie, right next to the seam where the foam meets the plastic bottom. The board takes on water and then weeps it out all along the seams when it gets hot.

Before I surfed it, I filled the hole with silicone & put a sticker over it, but the sticker came off and now it’s just got the silicone, which obviously isn’t working.

I plan on keeping the board, so I’m looking for a quality solution. I’ve been told that foamies have epoxy compatible foam inside (the small granule stuff) that sucks water in rapidly... What should I fill this sucker with??? TIA,

You were able to put a sticker on the foam part of the surfboard ? Or on the slick ?

Over the entire interface, actually. But it only lasted a couple hours in the water. I’m sure I could get a better sticker, but I’d prefer to repair it properly. The epoxy repair kits I find linked here & online appear to be more geared towards hard surfboards, which is why I’m probing further.

PS, the silicone repair appears watertight, but the amount of water weeping out says otherwise.

I fix my sponge boards with Hot Glue gun.

Because of ding location , depending on the value of the board it might be worth having a pro fix it. Should be about $25.

I had a closer look as I was drying the board off yesterday and it doesn’t weep from the seams, it just weeps randomly out of the foam. I’m drying it out after a few good days in the water, and will hopefully be repairing it later this week. My options are currently:

1.) Super expensive surf shop that won’t touch anything for less than $85

2.) Less corporate local shop, whose repair guy doesn’t fix foamies

3.) Talented local shaper who fixes anything on the cheap with about a two month wait

4.) Hot glue gun

I’m going with option #4.

Hit glue guns are the duct tape of the crafting world. Just splash that stuff around, won’t do any harm

Foamies are not tight and start to suck water and subsequently leak water out at
some point anyway (and, it happens rather sooner than later). Even without the obvious damage.
So, don’t expect it to be perfect again. Depending on the damage, I either used hot glue gun + industrial duct tape or just a putty.
Surf shop don’t usually fix soft boards.

I agree. Hot Glue gun. If you had a local repair guy who could do you a solid for $20 that would be my first choice. But yeah, I leave my foamie out all night and let it weep a puddle on my porch.
