de-waxing your board

I just took all the old wax off my board for the first time. I know a lot of people do this but what is the exact benefit? Is there anyone out there who doesn't bother and why?

After awhile the wax just starts to get smoothed out, grimey, lose it's tackiness, etc...

It's just good to put fresh wax on everyonce and awhile. Plus the more wax the builds up, the heavier the board gets and stuff. A new coat of wax feels much nicer to me than wax that has built up and been sitting on there for awhile.

i do it but not often its just cos im lazy and it gets messey everywhere but when i do it, i find it quite fun for some reason?!!!

It just feels so good putting fresh wax on an un-waxed board... i do it purely for its orgasmic qualities...... :shock:

Mine gets sandy and seems like it prevents the new wax from sticking.

I cant, i cant drive, i live two and half hours away, and the air temp is baout 45, the water tempp, not much higher.... I wish i could..... im longing sooo bad for a surf....

Is is possible to change my wax on a dinged up board. The board is not smooth so it may take a while to get the wax off. I don't even think I have a wax comb hehe. I haven't changed my wax ever since I got the board (3 years)but theres one part that I can never get the wax to stay on because it always comes off where my back foot stands. I never really thought of changing it but maybe I'll try.

!?! i think you should try re-waxing the board mate you will get a wonderful feeling called grip ...............

One very good reason for taking the wax off is to see if there are any leaking cracks and dings going unchecked under this layer of goo.

Like i mentioned I never de waxed it but I wax it every week. Is this an alternative to not waxing. Im not sure how often other people wax but i usually do it every time i go because the wax always like doesnt remain there when i go in.
