arm positioning for sprays

I want to get better at my layback cutbacks and actually land it. I have seen pros crossing their forehand over their body, or should I place my forehand in the water while throwing my backhand in the air? Sounds confusing and if you dont understand me I'll try to re-phrase it .

arms should come naturally. most of layback cutback comes from the core and legs. it depends on where you're messing up but for me it was my back leg. i would keep it too stiff because the move looks like you're hacking the crap out of the wave, but actually you've got to give a little and recover by bending your knees and sucking your board back under your c.o.g.

Seriously... Front arm doesnt really matter. Its just comes down to style.
Going into the cut back, someguys drag the back arm, some dont hit the water until there into the turn and literally fall back on the dragging arm... Its really up to your individual style..

Ive been wanting to work on my airs for about a month now...
I think about it most nights. The thing is, Ive been surfing the best I have, in months, just over this past couple of weeks! But havnt tried a single air... I keep forgetting to try them..

I find that my arm positioning alternates between dragging my knuckles in the water like some kind of surfing neanderthal, and intermittent bouts of flapping them around like a windmill in a hurricane


And as for airs, I find them really easy. Now if I can just convince the board to come with me rather than remaining stubbornly stuck to the ocean as I go airborne, they'll be even better

It's funny, when I am out of the water I spend my time thinking about the manoeuvers I should work out, and I swear to myself that once on the wave I will stick to this purpose. But once on the wave I can't even think, time seems to shrink and I can't but ride the wave the way I feel it.
