Rest Bay is the main surfing beach in Porthcawl. The beach has a blue flag and is a nice sandy beach, popular with all types of water sports. The beach is nicely exposed for the Atlantic swells and can hold up to 6ft.
Works well on all tides and in a westerly offshore. It is busy at the tourist times. Rips can sometimes be a problem.
Lifeguards cover the beachs at weekends from May to September 10am to 6pm; Daily July and August 10.30am to 6pm.
Parking in front of the beach currently 2.80 for whole day.
