Joan Duru (Ondres, FRA), 20, made history today after winning the thirtieth edition of the Sooruz Lacanau Pro, an ASP WQS 6-Star event, becoming the first French surfer to claim the title since local hero Thierry Fernandez (Lacanau, FRA) in 1982. Duru's result rockets him to No. 7 on the international ratings after what will be remembered as one of the best waves eer seen at Lacanau.
