Panama Surf Spot Map

The Central American country of Panama has huge expanses of tropical rainforest, is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world and guess what - it has great waves!. Although slightly less exposed to the North Pacific Swells than Costa Rica it gets the west and south swells that are generated from the roaring forties and hurricane swells.

The main swell season is from April to October although the rest of the year is pretty consistent as well. You also have the option of driving from one coast to the other if things are not happening where you are. The almost always calm conditions are another huge plus point to surfing Panama.

Quality Panama waves include P-Land, Punta Brava and the lefts at Rivermouth.

If you are serious about surfing and travel you will need a decent surfing guide book. Take a look at the Stormrider Guide Europe, Stormrider Guide North America and the World Stormrider Guide books. We cannot emphasise just how good these books are.
