Fuerteventura Surf Spot Map
Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands and is situated only 90km from the African Coast. It has a desert like scenery with some of the best surf in the chain of islands. A warm climate which is cooled by Atlantic breezes benefits the surfer greatly in the morning and late afternoon when the offshore conditions generate world class surf. Fuerteventura is considered one of the best places in Europe for heavy, uncrowded waves.
The best time for a surf trip to Fuerteventura is from Autumn to Spring although waves can be had all year round. If you are a novice then pick your surf spot carefully as some of the waves are unforgiving, breaking over shallow reefs. However, there are surf schools where you can learn in secure safety.
Waves to check out are Heirro, The Bubble and El Muelle on the north coast and the quiter, more remote waves at Punta del Tigre and Playa de Pared in the south west.

If you are serious about surfing and travel you will need a decent surfing guide book. Take a look at the Stormrider Guide Europe, Stormrider Guide North America and the World Stormrider Guide books. We cannot emphasise just how good these books are.
