Righto, what's next in our Surfing Equipment checklist? If you have come straight onto this page why not take a quick look at Surf Wax, already covered elsewhere (it gets a page of its very own - woweee!). Next up - Fins.
Surfboard Fins
If you own a reasonable recently constructed surfboard it will probably be equipped with a removable Fin or three. FCS, or Fin Control System is a great little invention which enables Fins to be taken in and out at will. Great for protecting your board whilst traveling and making a speedy replacement to a Fin that has been damaged. If you own a board that does have removable Fins then it is a good idea to have a replacement fin for each one on your board. There is nothing more annoying that having a good surf ruined by snapping a Fin.

Deck Grip / Foot Pads
Deck Grip and Foot Pads are widely used in surfing. They are a permanent fixture to the deck of the board and they replace the traditional use of surfboard wax for grip. Most commonly used for just the back foot, deck grip can be bought for the entire length of the board if you so desired. Some have kick tails, some have bobbley bits, some are nice luminous colours - take your pick!.
