Rip Curl UK Gromsearch invades Sennen Beach this week

RipCurl GromSearch 2005

A record number of over 110 kids between the ages of 6 and 16 have entered Rip Curl’s GromSearch scheduled for this coming weekend at Sennen Beach in Cornwall.

For the third consecutive year Rip Curl have rolled out this Grommet friendly contest with the emphasis being to help introduce girls and boys to competition surfing for the first time, and help them mature into the next generation of surf stars.

For the first time this year Rip Curl will be offering 1st Place in the under 16 Boys and 1st place in the under 16 Girls a trip to the GromSearch European finals taking place during the Rip Curl Pro Hossegor, in France, to be held August later this year.  The winners of the European finals will then be sent to Bells Beach in Australia in March to compete in the World GromSearch finals.

RIP CURL will be hosting another 2 events this summer over the same weekend - 16 17th July at Porthcawl Wales, and Long Strand West Cork, Ireland.

Each Gromsearch event is designed with a unique flavour to be “way more than your average surf contest”, with something for everyone.

Key Gromsearch elements include:
A unique double elimination format giving first–time competitors the chance to compete at least twice. Professional coaching tips from qualified coaches, give-aways including a competitor’s goodie bag for every contestant, plus prizes and music.
