Saltrock Surfwear is keen to support the development of Pro surfing in the UK and recognises that investing in junior and grommets events is the key to continued promotion of the standards of excellence currently to be seen in British surfing. With a growing number of the younger generation now pushing the future of surfing onto the global stage, standards of junior surfing in the UK looks set to continue this trend. As a result the scene is definitely set for some serious adrenaline sessions at Croyde this Whitsun weekend.
In the Pro Junior section we should expect some edgy manoeuvres from Jayce Robinson from St. Ives and Newquay’s Lewis Clinton who will both be looking to set themselves up as serious contenders for the 2009 UK Pro Junior title. However a little local knowledge goes a long way and Woolacombe’s Stuart Campbell will definitely be looking to make his mark. Our one to watch would defiantly have to be Croyde’s local boy Alex Baker who is rumoured to be firing on all cylinders after a storming winter training for the tour.
In the under 16’s there is always a high level of competition and with Harry Timson now moved up from the under 12’s, Leon Mansfield and Tom Good will have to watch their backs. The fierce rivalry looks set to continue In the under 12’s section as Angus Scotney and Will Bailey battle it out with another Croyde local Tasman Knight looking to add his name to Croyde’s ‘Hall of Fame’.
