Rip Curl Pro Round 2 Back On at 8am; Women's Round 3 On Standby

BELLS BEACH, Australia (Saturday, Mar. 22, 2008) – Event organizers at the Rip Curl Pro pres. by Snickers have called for the completion of Round 2 beginning with Heat 5 at 8am.

Stop No. 2 on the 2008 ASP World Tour, the Rip Curl Pro completed the opening round of competition yesterday as well as the first four heats of Round 2. Today’s conditions are slightly smaller, with surf in the four foot (1 metre) range.

“The surf is slightly smaller today, but there is still swell running around four foot and we’ll be starting with Heat 5 of Round 2 at 8am,” Damien Hardman, Rip Curl Pro Contest Director, said. “The surf is projected to drop slightly throughout the day, but still hold and we’re looking to run Round 3 of the Rip Curl Women’s Pro following the completion of the men’s Round 2.”

The opening heat of the day will see Luke Stedman (AUS) do battle with Chris Ward (USA) before seeing other dynamic match-ups including Jordy Smith (ZAF) vs. Daniel Wills (AUS), Bruce Irons (HAW) vs. Fredrick Patacchia (HAW) and Dane Reynolds (USA) vs. Heitor Alves (BRA), amongst others.

Following the completion of Round 2 of the Rip Curl Pro at approximately 2pm, Round 3 of the Rip Curl Women’s Pro pres. by Ford Fiesta is tentatively scheduled to run.

Both the Rip Curl Pro and the Rip Curl Women’s Pro will be webcast LIVE via www.aspworldtour.com beginning at 8am.
