Unstoppable Campbell crowned English & British Champ
O’Neill rider Stuart Campbell has won the Under 14 category at the 2005 Ripcurl English Surfing Championships at Watergate Bay, Newquay. This latest success makes the unstoppable grommet the proud holder of both the English and British National titles.
Despite the very changeable conditions at the contest, the 13-year-old dominated his heats throughout but saved the real magic for the final. He ripped up the tough opposition of Lewis Clinton, Jack Butler and fellow O’
Neill rider Alex Baker in style to emerge triumphant as the clear winner.
Stuart said, “I’m stoked! The conditions weren’t ideal but I felt confident going into the final and just concentrated on my surfing. It’s awesome to be both the British and English Champion.”
Stuart’s recent awesome form is a combination of natural talent, enthusiasm and more than a little investment from his sponsors O’Neill. Stuart has just returned from his second term at the O’Neill Surf Training Camp (S.T.C), in Zaraztuz, Northern Spain a scheme dedicated to providing necessary technical support to the O’Neill European Surf Team to enable them to achieve their personal surfing goals and compete at the highest levels.
Paul Wilkinson of O’Neill said, “Stuart is an awesome young surfer who is producing one amazing result after another. He is a real asset to the O’
Neill team and has a fantastic career ahead of him.”
Fellow O’Neill grommets and O’Neill S.T.C attendees Zoe Sheath and Alex Baker also put in awesome performances at the English Championships. Zoe made the podium in 3rd position in the Girls category while Alex finished an impressive 4th place in the Under 14 Boys category.
