N'East Magazine Releases Its 10th Issue

N'East Issue 10

ISSUE 10
The time has come for all of you retro-lovers out there to come out from hiding: Dust off your Burton Cruzer, pull the singlefin out of the garage, and see if you can fit back into your neon one-piece ski suit. N'East is shouting out to all things good and retro with its tenth issue-Throwback.

IN THIS ISSUE
Issue 10 is filled with old-school action shots (and hot pink shorts and the occasional mullet), and commentary on where the Northeast has come since the days of yore…or at least the 70's.
Throwback features interviews with the icons of sport that have helped shape our culture, including Jake Burton Carpenter, Sid Abruzzi, Jack Fleming and the Peters sisters. It also presents a history of Northeast surfing from 1888 to present, a hot retro fashion shoot, and a perspective on the evolving NYC skate scene.

"The Retro issue was one of the most fun issues to design," says Designer Danny Louten. "It was like a history lesson on every front. It was a great way to look back and to move forward with more issues of N'East."

FROM THE TEAM
With the release of issue 10, naturally, came the party. N'East celebrated at the Cake nightclub in Portland. Webmaster Jason Hjort spun retro music while Red Bull breakdancers dominated the dance floor. That is, until Publisher Jim McGinley attempted to outdo them and threw down some moves of his own.

"Every so often, my days of headspins and windmills come back. Usually, and unfortunately for those in attendance, it's only after a few cocktails. Being the oldest on the crew, I still have to earn my keep here," Jim McGinley, Publisher.

Special guests at the party included Sam Hammer and Ross Powers, the Guest Editors for Issue 11. Sam, who just took down the Unsound Pro in New York, and Ross spent the week working with the N'East crew. Also in September, N'East made the trip out to San Diego for the ASR tradeshow to check out the latest styles and designs in the action sports industry and log a little West Coast water time.

UPCOMING
N'East is the upcoming northeast media sponsor for both Teton Gravity Research and Meathead Films movie tours in New England this fall. Meathead's Wanderland: meatheadfilms.com should be full of Northeast action and local rippers, and TGR: tetongravity.com will take you into the vast, unexplored Tordrillo Range of Alaska, where big mountain skiing remains undiscovered. N'East will be attending all the local area stops for both films, so check out websites for tour dates and locations.
