Few days from now, Magnum Martinez, member of the Quiksilver International team, will travel to Indonesia where he will stay for about a month with Kalle Carranza (Mexico), Otto Flores (Puerto Rico) and Diego Cadena (Mexico). The main objective of the trip is to shoot the surfers in different waves for a future DVD.

“I’m pretty excited with the idea of traveling with my friends and a filmmaker since I’ve never done this in Indonesia. We will be a month ripping through the different waves that that great place of the planet has. So I’m sure we will get very good shootings for the future production”, said Mr. Martinez to Surfpress.

The great Venezuelan surf ambassador was intensifying his training on July with the professionals of Project Athlete, so that he could be at the best shape for the last competitions of the year.

“From the beginning of this year I’ve been training with Project Athlete people and I feel really comfortable with them since they understand what a surfer like me needs in the physical aspect. Besides, during my long staying at home I took time to test new Epoxy boards that Marcio Zouvi from Sharp Eye has designed. The boards are extremely fast, light and I have found them really useful up to now.”

Once the trip through Indonesia finishes, Mr. Magneto will be ready for the final stages of the ALAS Latin Tour. Mexico, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Panama will be the key stages to know the name of the next Latin champion. Magnum, the 2004 champion, as usual, will fight for the title.

BEST COMPETITOR ACCORDING TO HIS COLLEAGUES

On the first edition of Olas Latin America magzine, Magnum Martinez was selected by his colleagues as the best competitor in Latin America. He received 47.8 % of the votes followed by Martin Passeri, his closest rival on that field.

MAGNUM MARTÍNEZ EN EXPEDICIÓN A INDONESIA

En los próximos días Magnum Martínez, integrante del team Quiksilver International, estará partiendo rumbo a Indonesia donde permanecerá por espacio de un mes junto a los surfistas Kalle Carranza (México), Otto Flores (Puerto Rico) y Diego Cadena (México). Magneto encabezará el trip que tiene como principal objetivo la filmación de imágenes en diferentes olas del archipiélago malayo para un futuro DVD.

“Estoy muy entusiasmado con la idea de viajar con los muchachos y un filmaker ya que nunca lo había hecho en Indonesia. Estaremos durante un mes rippeando en las diferentes olas que ese magnífico lugar del planeta tiene y por lo tanto podremos conseguir muy buenas imágenes para un futuro DVD”, manifestó desde California Mr. Martínez a Surfpress.

El gran embajador del surf de Venezuela durante el mes de julio estuvo intensificando su entrenamiento con los profesionales de Project Athlete, y así llegar de la mejor manera a las competencias de fin de año.

“Desde principio de año estoy entrenando con la gente de Project Athlete, con quienes me estoy sintiendo muy cómodo ya que entienden lo que un surfista como yo necesita en el aspecto físico. Además he aprovechado mi larga estadía en casa para testear nuevas tablas epóxicas que ha diseñado Marcio Zouvi de Sharp Eye, son super ligeras, livianas y hasta ahora me han resultado muy útiles en esta fase de exploración”.

Una vez que concluya el trip por Indonesia, Mr. Magneto estará listo para la batalla latina del tour ALAS. México, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica y Panamá serán las citas definitorias para saber el nombre del nuevo campeón latino. El monarca del año 2004, fiel a su espíritu, presentará combate en la pelea por el título.

EL MEJOR COMPETIDOR SEGÚN SUS COLEGAS

En el primer número de la revista Olas Latinoamérica el periodista Pablo Zanocchi realizó una encuesta a los mejores surfistas latinos, quienes entre ellos juzgaron a los más sobresalientes en diferentes rubros.

Magnum Martínez recibió un 47.8 % de los votos, marcando una brecha realmente amplia con Martín Passeri, su seguidor más directo. Al respecto el actual campeón latino manifestó lo siguiente sobre Magnum:

“Magnum es el que más me gusta, el que veo que está más focalizado en el surfing, más profesional, más tranquilo. Antes tenía una diferencia muy grande entre su frontside y su backside, lo mejoró muchísimo y eso habla muy bien de él. Compite bien y hace todo tipo de maniobras”.
