Our Mate Martinez Heads to El Salvador

The Quiksilver Pro Punta Roca-El Salvador 2007 will be the next mission for the Venezuelan surfer Magnum Martinez. From May the 31st to June the 3rd Magneto will attend to this traditional event that Mr. Jimmy Rotherham has been organizing from many years now. This event gathers a select group of Latin American surfers and four of the members of the Quiksilver USA team.

During last May, Martinez was surfing and taking photos in Brazil with Peter Mendia and Wesley de Souza and with former Transworld Surf Magazine photographer, Seth Stafford. They stayed most of the time in Rio de Janeiro but they also visited the main walls of the Bossa nova’s country. The pictures could be seen in the mentioned magazine.

Hermanos II

After competing in El Salvador, Mr. Magneto will join the Reef team in Mexico to shoot the images of “Hermanos II”, which is the second part of the DVD where Reef shows from the inside the most pure Latin American surfing spirit. Martin Passeri (Argentina), Gary Saavedra (Panama), Luisma Iturria (Uruguay) and Kalle Carranza (Mexico) will be some of the surfers that Magnum will join in aztecas lands.

We will be in Mexico shooting Brothers II, and I’m sure this will be quite an event. In the first part we had a lot of fun and I think it will be the same this time. Mexico is an amazing place, what can I say about its people and its waves that has not been said before?” Said Martinez on a telephone conversation to Surfpress.

Brazil and a new stop of the ALAS tour

Thrilled with his last victory in the ALAS tour in Ecuador last March, Magnum Martinez will come back to Brazil but this time as a competitor. The “Rio Panamerican Surf 2007” will have 6 stars category and it will be the fifth day of the ALAS tour. It will take place in Prainha from June the 29th to July the 1st.

Magnum is currently 6th on the ALAS ranking, his triumph in the Reef Classic Latin Pro Montañita (Ecuador) proves his class and talent in competition. He could make clear that he is always a rival to consider.

I have been training a lot and I feel really good. I’m very pleased with my surfing and my physical condition and that is something I have been working on all this year long. It’s still a long way in the ALAS tour and it’s always good to win not to be far away from the first places”, said Martinez.

During the last few days the member of the Quiksilver International team has been training in the most important spots of California, where he lives. Besides he had the chance to get the right quiver to take to El Salvador, Mexico and Brazil.

MAGNUM MARTÍNEZ ENTRE EL SALVADOR, MÉXICO Y BRASIL

El Quiksilver Pro Punta Roca – El Salvador 2007 será la próxima misión del surfista venezolano Magnum Martínez, del 31 de mayo al 3 de junio Magneto asistirá a este tradicional evento que el Sr. Jimmy Rotherham organiza desde hace unos años, y que reúne a un selecto grupo de surfistas latinos y a cuatro integrantes del team Quiksilver USA.

Martínez durante el mes de mayo estuvo junto Peter Mendia y Wesley de Souza en Brasil surfeando y tomando fotos con un fotógrafo de Transworld Surf Magazine. Con base de operaciones en Río de Janeiro, el trío se movió por las principales rompientes del país de la bossa nova y algunos de esos momentos se verán reflejados en las páginas de la mencionada publicación.

HERMANOS II

Luego de la competencia en El Salvador, en tierras aztecas el Sr. Magneto se unirá al team Reef para filmar imágenes de la segunda parte de “Hermanos”, secuela del primer DVD donde Reef muestra desde adentro el más puro sentimiento del surfing latino. Martín Passeri (Argentina), Gary Saavedra (Panamá), Luisma Iturria (Uruguay) y Kalle Carranza (México) serán algunos de los surfistas a los que se unirá Martínez en suelo mexicano.

Estaremos en México filmando “Hermanos II” y seguro será todo un acontecimiento, en la primera parte nos divertimos mucho y estimo que en esta ocurrirá lo mismo. México es un lugar increíble y que más puedo agregar de su gente y sus olas que ya no se haya dicho”, manifestó Martínez en comunicación telefónica con Surfpress.

BRASIL Y NUEVA PARADA DEL TOUR ALAS

Motivado por su última victoria del tour ALAS en Ecuador el pasado mes de marzo, Magnum Martínez volverá a Brasil pero esta vez en condición de competidor. El “Río Panamerican Surf 2007” tendrá categoría de 6 estrellas y será la quinta fecha del tour ALAS, la misma se disputará en Prahina del 29 de junio al 1 de Julio.

Ubicado en el sexto lugar del ranking ALAS, su triunfo en el Reef Classic Latin Pro Montañita (Ecuador) le sirvió para demostrar su clase, categoría en competencia y dejar en claro que siempre es un rival de respeto para sus adversarios.

He entrenado mucho y por suerte todo está muy bien, me siento cómodo con mi surfing y mi forma física que es algo que vengo trabajando con intensidad desde que comenzó el año. Todavía falta mucho en el tour ALAS y siempre es bueno ganar para no alejarse de los primeros puestos”, expresó Martínez.

Durante los últimos días el integrante del team Quiksilver International estuvo entrenando en los spots más importantes de California, lugar donde reside, y además aprovechó para reunir el quiver indicado para llevar a El Salvador, México y Brasil.
