Mexican surfer Angelo Lozano Makes Great 2007 1Q Start

Angelo Lozano In ActionThe surfer from Puerto Escondido obtained the third position in the Reef Classic Latin Pro Ecuador and proved that he is having a great moment. Experience and versatility are the words that describe this Latin surfer who is part of a new generation of surfers in Latin America.

The Mexican surfer Angelo Lozano finished the first quarter of the year in international competitions with a third place in the Reef Classic Latin Pro Ecuador. With this result the goofy from Puerto Escondido obtained the fourth position in the ALAS ranking 2007. It’s worth mentioning that Lozano didn’t participate in the first stop of the ALAS tour, which took place in Argentina, due to his historical participation in the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships which was carried out in Narrabeen, Sydney (Australia).

On a telephone interview with Surfpress, Lozano talked about the Latin tour and said: “With this last result I could close a great first quarter of the year, and I think that in my division (Junior Pro) I have a big chance of getting the title. The tour has just began and there are still many competitions ahead.”

Angelo Lozano SprayThroughout the tour, the member of the Squalo team showed verstility and great experience and that make him one of the Latin Amreican surf promises in spite of his short age.

Not only is he participating in the Junior Pro division of the ALAS tour 2007, but Lozano is also participating in the Open division, where he is positioned on the twentieth place of the ranking.

A GREAT BEGINNING

On January 2007 Lozano had a turning point on his career and on Mexican Surf history when he was specially invited through an ASP International Wildcard to the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships. It was the first time a Mexican athlete was invited.

He obtained the seventeenth place out of the 45 best athletes in the world under 21 years old, and make a good impression for his country and for his career.

After his visit to Australia, the member of the Squalo team made a stop in Chile, where he obtained the first victory of the year in the Reef Classic Latin Pro Chile.

PhotocallAfter his triumph in Chile, and his participation in the Reef Classic Latin Pro de Perú he finished the first quarter of the year with his third place on the Montañita waves, in Ecuador.

For the next months Angelo Lozano is planning to train a lot to prepare himself for the next international competitions, and he is also travelling to different parts of the glove in search of the perfect waves.
