Naranho Leads Costa Rican National Tour
Diego Naranjo placed second at the Costa Rican National Tour second stage, the Mango Cup that was held at Playa Hermosa. Luis Vindas was the contest winner, however, with this result, the Naranjo solidified his status as the ranking leader.
The final took place in 4 to 6 feet waves. Luis Vindas, Ronald Brown, Luis Castro and Naranjo fought for the stage title on a tight decision, with the four surfers reaching high combined scores. Vindas was the best of them, leaving Naranjo in second, Ronald Brown in third and Luis Castro in fourth.
The fast and radical Naranjo, a standout wherever he surfs, is one of the greatest ambassadors of the Costa Rican Surfing. His permanent travels through Latin American and the United States, gave him the experience needed to be an ALAS Top 5.
Naranjo happily declared to Surfpress: “This last contest was great; the level was really high at the final… This time Luis Vindas was the great winner, he surfed really well and we couldn´t beat him. A second place is great, it backs up my lead on the National Ranking and it makes me feel comfortable for the following ALAS tour stops.”
February will be a month of international contests for the tico star, two Latin Tour stages are close in the schedule. The first one will be the Reef Classic Latin Pro Chile that will take place at Reñaca´s waves -February 16-18- and one week later, the Reef Classic Latin Pro Perú will take place at the legendary wave of Punta Rocas.
