Lost Energy Drink ISA World Surfing Games Anti-Doping Results

During the recent Lost Energy Drink ISA World Surfing Games held in Huntington Beach, California, in October 2006, anti doping tests were performed for substances banned by the International Olympic Committee and the World Anti Doping Agency. All finalists were tested along with four random athletes, whose names were drawn from the pool of competing athletes.

The International Surfing Association is pleased to announce that the results of all of the tests came back negative. The anti-doping analysis was conducted at an International Olympic Committee accredited laboratory, in Los Angeles, California.

ISA President Fernando Aguerre said, "This is great news for the sport of surfing. Surfing, a very healthy sport, produced zero positive tests at the World Surfing Games. The ISA will continue to test finalists at all ISA event, hence working for a drug free surfing future."

The ISA adopted the anti-doping code set out by the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) in 2004 in it’s commitment to a drug free sport.
