Rip Curl Boardmasters Event Entries And Information
The Rip Curl Boardmasters has always been a truly international event as part of the ASP World Tour of Surfing. This year is no different with International line ups in the Men’s 5 Star, The Tampax Compak Pro and The Vans Summer Session Vert Comp! Below are some of the entries to look out for over the week of The Rip Curl Boardmasters.
Rip Curl Pro 5 Star WQS
The 5 Star WQS event entry list of 133 is looking stronger than ever this year with surfers from 14 countries including 7 WCT surfers like Rip Curl Surfer Darren O’Rafferty, WQS champ Adriano de Souza, Yuri Sodre, Greg Emslie, David Weare and Micky Picon.
The British contingency is also looking strong led by 2002 champ Russell Winter, Reubin Pearce, Nick Tiscoe, Martin Black, Oli Adams, and Rip Curl Team riders Jayce Robinson and Mark ‘Egor’ Harris.
Other notable entries include last years winner Antonio Bortoletto, Big wave nuts Peter Mel and Makua Rothman and Rip Curl entries Romain Laulhe, Pablo Gutierrez, Matt Wilkinson and Abdel El Harim.
Tampax Compak Fresh Pro Women’s 3 Star Event
The Tampax Compak Fresh Women’s Pro 3 Star WQS is also looking solid with 35 women from 10 countries making the journey to Fistral Beach! There are two WCT surfers including Rip Curl Rider Jessi Miley-Dyer and last years winner Silvana Lima.
The UK will be represented by Sophie Hellyer. Elsewhere Rip Curl Rider and lady who is taking the surf World by storm, Stephanie Gilmore will be aiming to win her sponsors event!
Vans Summer Session Vert Comp
The Vans Summer Session is following surf lead with another international line up including Aussie Renton Millar, Juergen Horrwarth and Sascha Muller from Germany, current ’04 and ’05 winner Terence Bougdour, Jussi Korhonen from Finland to name a few. The Brits will be represented by Pete King, Dave Allen and young guns Sam Beckett and Rip Curl grom Paul-Luc Ronchetti.
This line up will not disappoint!
Freerange Sports Optics (FSO) Newquay Park Pro, Wooden Waves Skate Park
This is the second annual FSO Park Pro that takes place at Wooden Waves Skatepark and attracts the UK’s best street skaters!
Last year’s winner Ross McGouran is set to return to defend his title along with Vans stablemates Mark Churchill, Ben Grove, Horsey and Ollie Tyreman.
Other skaters include FSO team rider Ben Cundall, Nicky Cornell and look out for a shock entry from Dirty Sanchez boys Pritchard and Dainton!
All these events are going to go off so do not be late for any of them. However if action sports are not your thing then check out the music we have in store for you!
Music has also been taken care of with the introduction of the Beach Sessions in the Foster’s Beach Bar on the Fistral Beach Site. Also just a short distance from the beach site at possibly the most picturesque concert setting in the UK, Watergate Bay hosts Rip Curl Boardmasters Unleashed. This year sees Feeder and Starsailor headlining with support acts including The Automatic, Graham Coxon, Nerina Pallot, Breaks Co-Op and ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra). More acts to be announced shortly!
