Stuart Campbell wins the Etnies XPY PRO JUNIOR 2011
Last weekend, Tolcarne beach came alive with the best Junior surfers from across the UK, showcasing high performance surfing & showing how fast junior surfing is progressing in Britain.
Testing conditions throughout the day, with re-locating to tolcarne beach, surfing conditions were in the 4ft range, changeable weather with everyone in good spirit and smiling throughout the day!
The 2011 Judging Panel consisted of the UK's top judges, crucial in gettting the right result on the day.
This year's prize purse along with the event being rated a 1 star on the UK Pro surf tour, surfers were eager to succeed and gain crucial starting points leading up to the next leg of the tour, the triple crown.
For the finals, the swell & wind decreased along with the sun gracing everyone at the beach.
First final to hit the water was the under 16's. An explosive display from all 4 finalists, with standout surfing from Budes Jobe Harriss, locking in two excellent rides making 2nd, 3rd & 4th require a combination of waves. Final results included Jobe 1st, Angus Scotney 2nd, Taz Knight 3rd & Joshua Braddock in 4th.
For the Pro Junior finals, all four surfers put on an entertaining display of high performance surfing in the conditions offered. Stuart Campbell from Woolacombe eventually took the win & £125 along with Newquay's Luke Dillon 2nd along with Croyde's Alex Baker 3rd & Newquay's Lewis Clinton taking 4th. respectively.
The prestigious 'XPY Highest Scoring Wave Trophy' went to Jobe Harriss, locking in the highest scoring wave of the weekend. Jobe walked away with a pair of Etnies shoes & taking the trophy home once again.
And finally Adams surfboards in conjunction with Lewis Clinton Surfboards donated a brand new custom made board to Ben Bennett for 'The best up and coming rider'.
