Over to the anticipated Rip Curl men’s event and some shining performances came from BPSA men’s surfers including Rip Curl team rider Reubyn Ash who comfortably took home his heat. Another good British performance came from BPSA 2004 tour champ Alan Stokes who nailed his heat over Carlos Cabrero. As we go to press the men’s round of 144 is in its final stage and surfers will be working hard to gain a slot into the following money round commencing tomorrow. Also commencing tomorrow we will see the women’s round of 24 where some solid heats see WCT surfers Melanie Redman-Carr, Jacqueline Silva, Rebecca Woods ranked 6 th, 8 th, and 9 th respectively competing against some points hungry WQS surfers including Rip Curl’s Marie Pierre-Abgrall.

Elsewhere at the Rip Curl Boardmasters the Vans under 16’s Vert comp went off with 12 year old Rip Curl skater Paul-Luc Ronchetti taking out the win and entry to the men’s Vans Summer Session Vert event. Nice one Paul Luc!!
