Commenting on what the event means for surfing, SSA President Gary Gravett said "We have been trying to include a dedicated Masters event on to the calendar for a number of years. Thanks to Peugeot's support it will become an annual fixture. I am looking forward to the championship, particularly as it will involve many of our surfers who made their mark on surfing over the last 20 years or so. It is also great to form a partnership with a corporate sponsor such as Peugeot."
Although emphasizing that ultimately they were in the business of selling beautiful cars Johnathan Mc Conkey, the National Sales Manager of Peugeot Motors South Africa and a surfer added that "the Peugeot brand has always been associated with adventurous and trend setting style, elegance, class and exclusivity. These elements also form the heart of the surfing world so it is a natural progression for us to be proudly involved with the SA Masters and Surfing".
