Anyone use a Nose Guard?

..well does anyone use a nose guard on their shortboard?
Are they worth it ?
My 6'3 has a pointy nose so I guess I should get a guard for it but they look so stupid on the board.

i think they look stupid to i do not have one on mine just do not nose dive or hit anything are u are fine

I just noticed how much they charge for these small nose guards. £10 for this Mrs Palmers one! Thats ridiculous!

yes, get one. I have one on my 6'3 which has a sharp nose. I still got a scar from a nose of a board igot when i was 11.
Ok, it does mess up that nice lookin nose on a brand new board, but they not only protect you and others from injury, they also stop you chipping the nose of your board (which is pretty easy to do).

Ye, the only reason I was thinking about it was because the nose is very thin and could easily snap. Maybe I'll have a look around for a cheap one

well it wont stop it snapping, doesnt add any strength its just a piece of sorf rubber that glues on.

Duct Tape is even cheaper..... and if you don't like it, just rip it off! Can you tell I'm a rep on comission for duct tape? no?? well I'm surprised :lol:

I put a noseguard on one of my boards about 10 years ago and whilst it did protect the nose well I hated it as it was one of the softer type rubber ones and it kept snagging when I put it back into the board bag. I have not bothered since and never had any issues with injuries to myself or others, and now I always rest the nose of the board on the ankle bit of the leash to save the nose.

i have to say i do go for the not surfing into anyone approach. not sure about the look of noseguards and not convinced tht theyd protect the board too much if you hit anything hard enough to damage it anyway

i used to not have on but one day i was surfin near a jetty and i wiped out and my board got slammed into the rocks and the nose just came clean off...

well it really wont protect any one if it hit them coz it wud still bloody hurt if you did have a nose guard on! but i can see a point in it protecting the nose coz i always chip mine!

Well the shaper that I get my boards from in Australia always glues a nose guard on. It's usually a seethrough one, or a slightly transparent (?) colored one!

Good idea in my books! Prevents annoying repairs and other stuff!

I made a double schoolboy error by leaving my board on the car park concrete on a windy day - it flipped and dinged the nose. I had a noseguard in the car!!!! Lucky its epoxy and still watertight

People think a nose guard will protect them and others from injury. Its still going to bloody hurt if you get hit by the nose of a board. Only thing it protect is, as said by others in this post, the nose from being chipped.
Look after your board and it should be A-ok without one.

i had a noes guard on my 6'2 and i think it saved me from being blind in one eye, the noes of the board hit me on my eye lid and it was bleeding, i think that if it had no nose gaurd i think i would be blind in one eye, thank god for noes guards :bow:
