Hell no. I'm a 39 year old grommet.
Mellow days, I have JUST the board. The 6' hybrid fish mentioned was made especially for those such conditions which we get for about 4-6 months of the year in winter here in north eastern New Zealand. It is a thing called a "step-deck", meaning, the centre deck area where your chest, torso and legs lie when paddling is raised about 1/3inch higher than the surrounding deck & rail area. meaning it has the size of a 6 footer, with the equalivent volume of about a 6'8" or more.
I can compete equally with mal riders for those 1-2 foot perfect waves. It gives them the shits too.
Mine was made here by Andy Jordan, and I have no image to show you...but another local manfacturer called Matt Hands also makes them, go to www.handssurf.co.nz
& look up "step deck". His is more extreme than mine, but you'll get the idea...
