Hi everybody, im thinking on moving from Spain to Newquay. Could you say me if a 4/3 wetsuit would be enough for the water temperature in march, april? thanks

You'd be wanting a 5/3 for winter - spring, and boots, gloves and maybe a hood too depending on conditions.

I kind of agree with Bewilderbeast, why leave Spain for Newquay? No offence Newquay, but come on, the north coast of spain is fanatastic! I'd move to San Sebastian.

i understand your point, guys, but...english is a serious problem for us, spaniards, so, as i have no money to go to australia, i could try the south...of England to improve my shity english.

Nah you;ll be fine with a 4/3.... most of the crew here were in the're 3/2's al winter last year it was so warm. Looking like its gonna be like that agai nthis year.

Defo the boots and gloves tho..

brrrrr I was freezing in my 3/2 last weekend. First proper outing for the summer suit. I have got used to my winter wettie - going to feel the cold in Feb now!! :shock:

I'm gonna have to disagree with you PapaW. With the water temps already down on what they should be at this time of year I'm thinking it's gonna be a Right chilly winter.

PapaW doesnt sit on a board for hours waiting for a wave - so he'll be allright in a 4mm suit. Us idiots sitting out in the line-up need a nice cosy 5mm suit (with boots, gloves, hood, thermal rashie...) :roll:

I'm predicting a nice warm ocean in January this year :twisted:

Mid Wales last week and i was still toasty in a 3/2.

East Coast this wkend i think i may be in my winter suit tho.

This time of year, a 3mm is fine. Last weekend I was in my 3mm and was just beginning to get a bit chilly.

Once we hit november, a 5mm is the way to go. By the time you get to february the water will be colder than you can believe and you'll need every bit of you covered in as thick rubber as you can cope with.

its getting a little bit chilly for a 3mm fine if you keep moving though which means getting more waves basically!!! im in south wales atm btw so im guessing water temps are about the same as newquay.

Summer is a different story. I've surfed in boardshorts before in the summer (not this summer, I might add!) but you mentioned March/April which have pretty much the coldest water temps of the year......we're talking about 6 degrees c water and possibly 1 or 2 degrees air temp my friend!!

It gets a bit chilly!! :wink:

Two wetsuits (3mm, 5mm) is essential in the UK.

We Aussies don't speak proper english anyway. Just watch some english/american TV and stay where you are.

Save up the money to go to Australia and get work visa. That way you can come here and work in a pub to earn money while you're here. Heaps of people do it.
