Car keys and surf don't mix

Yup - car keys were nice and snug in my trunks under the wetty whilst surfing. Result being the remote element is knackered and Ford have to send a new one for the dealer to re-program. Oh technology! We've come a long way huh?

Anyone else done any plonkerish things like that?

I bent one in a leash once, was stood outside my car, it was almost snowing, and getting dark, in the middle of nowhere, trying to hammer it flat with a rock.

lol well duh!!!! Electric and water don't mix!!!

Get a stander one cut and have it round your neck/pocket etc.. lock the leccy ones in the car.

agreed. just use a shoelace for a necklace hooked to the lone key... and keep the electronic keyless entry device in your car hidden.

I always do that, the plain key thing. leave the electronics in the car. My buddy i go on alot of trips with, brings the whole thing in. Give it about an hour after surfing, and it works again....I dunno why.

Sorry man but that's funny!

I had a keyless entry pad on my explorer but I got rid of that this summer. Now I have a hide a key inside the frame.

. Key pocket inside my wet suit. I use duck tape over the entry hole just in case.

Well - I learnt a lesson and won't do it again. It was forgetfulness - too bloddy keen to get into the surf!!!

Some of you may think this is daft, but when faced with no aletrnative . . .

Some cars have an overhang of the bumper / spoiler at the back wheels. You just need to ensure no ones looking at you in the busy surf car park, (not a problem if your hemmed in by parked cars), squat down and stick the keys on the inside ledge of the rear bumber by the back wheel, being carefull not to touch the hot exhaust. It cant be seen from any angle and stays dry when raining.

Obviously, the BEST way is to get a key cut that you wear round your neck as mentioned above but, if your really stuck this is safer than under the 3rd rock from the tree" stuff. Works for me ! (but I am getting a key cut to go around my neck!)

Agree with silver surfer, we got 'stranded' in devon the other week (I didn't mind). My mates got an 'all singing, all dancing' car, about a year old. Got the key wet and even 'aa' stuggled for a couple of hours on it! Had to 'reset it' or something.

I don't have that problem, still have to 'wind up' my windows, central locking is a long pair of arms!

This time I hid my key in the well at the bottom of the windscreen - worked for me!!

I know lol it's great isn't it? alternativly you could just buy some sort of security device and take the key in for that instead.
