UK- so when is everyone heading back into the sea?

we're still getting consistent waves on the north east coast of the isle of lewis, with offshore breeze too, surf is outstanding and clean, prob around 7 foot average, but every 10 mins or so you're getting even bigger sets up to around 14 foot with barrels. Only annoying thing is that it's 50/50 whether the wave peels or it all comes down at once!

i'm moving up on sunday, but then the week i move, the swell seems to be slowing down up there? and coming in down here!

Early days but there should be another couple of days surf up here to greet your arrival, and your first taste of North Sea surf. The water colour is just silt left over from pre-historic times don't let it put you off.

Oh and i'm still in a 3/2 nothing else. A mate yesterday had his winter suit and boots on, pansy, and others had boots and gloves. :shrug:

ok cool, thanks northswell, i won't be put off by the look of the water, it's the same here (just up here the water is actually dirty!) what's the water temp up there at the moment? i can normally do without gloves and a hat/hood down here untill about january through till march, although i know it's a different story there.

I had my fingers crossed for the end of the week/weekend, but I dont think so now...

A little smidgeon on the push maybe.... but not 2ft....

cool, 15/16 isn't a bad temp, it will feel chilly after being up here mind

and the flat spell looks to be staying it's while, who knows how much longer, just hope that there isn't one up on the east coast for the next 3 years atleast

Yup. MS is pathetic. Surfcore which i use more often than not says at most 1ft on saturday.
I was tempted to go to Bude this evening for the incoming tide, but its not worth it.

I went Polzeath today, wasn't great but it was surfable. Quite a bit of waiting around for the waves though!

Depends 3/2 till i have to get out after a couple of hours, few weeks yet i hope. I've a three yr old 5mm suit for winter, a few leaks now might be time for an upgrade. Know a few who have the 6mm F-bomb, reckoned it was too warm.

ok cool thanks for the info, just wanted to know because my brother doesn't have a 5mm suit, so will have to make do without for the first month (through september) and then should get one. i think the 6mm would be too warm, just not sure because i don't want to get a new 5mm and find it too cold.

went out in llangennith today, flat as a pancake! caught one wave in the shallows on my mates swell board so i was pretty happy with that! is there a god of waves?? maybe we should start praying!

Finally managed to get a wave on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon at Widemouth (Bude). Not big, but 1-2ft is enough after this flat spell....

here comes a beast of a north swell from wednesday, magic seaweed posting 10 foot and 4 stars on west side of lewis, 7.5 foot at north of lewis, 17.5 foot and messy one day too, then by the weekend it's gonna be pumping all over the entire north, east and west. Roll on the weekend (and wednesday)!!! :lol:
