Stop generalising.

This is what it looks like for a flat spell in the South and West.

Good North Coast Scotland and Ireland, in fact pretty damn good.

East Coast OK next few days through till Thurs. On it Weds, bit too busy Tues and Weds am, may overnight it Weds if its lasting through and looking good.

I think we've established that this thread is about the flat spell affecting the south west, and indeed almost the entire european atlantic coast... with some small exceptions. :roll:

And also, you'll notice if you take that chip out your eyes, that this thread has mostly been about weekends (when most of us surf) and next weekend is looking pretty flat for everywhere including the east coast.

Yes, I know you can surf the south east, and yes you should know there's a bias towards the weat coast because a) thats where the 'highest proportion' of people on here surf and b) it was me that put that the thread up and its where I surf most. But, yes, I surf all over the UK. Least often on the east coast, but only because its the worst place for me to travel to.

If you dont like it, dont read my threads. Feel free to have a thread about east coast surf, and then I can ignore that too.

How come all your cold fronts move in the wrong direction up there in the northern hemisphere!

If we had lows hovering just to the north on the Aussie east coast, we'd be getting wicked on shore winds, with solid waves... then as the winds drop, the waves continue... hmmm.

First (employers) bit successully finished, my bit in. Got the medical on wednesday. So assuming no problems, it should be about four more weeks, and then a few weeks to organise my life (expect a few desperate emails).

C'mon hurricane season, get blowing.

No Chips on my shoulder. Your first post mentioned flatness for the whole of the UK, missing that those exact conditions are best for our East Coast. There has been surf on the East Coast for the past week, dropped off yesterday but back again today and increasing to solid size tomorow with very light winds.

Not quite classic because the lows are shooting over pretty quickly and not hanging a round long enough to produce too much size, next few days might be different, expecting a lot more size.

Not yet checked the long range charts for this weekend.

This time last year, it had already right kicked off.... so its already not as good as last year!
Fingers crossed for the next few weeks.

The hurricanes so far are all in the wrong place! :roll:

You're right, Sydney has been a bit small lately, but that's expected around this time of year, since we get mostly offshore winds, that blow the sea flat. It should be improving from now on, as the land temperatures warm up.

You'll be pleased to hear that all of the banks are in tip-top condition still, after our June storms, so there's plenty of un-crowded breaks around the beaches.

Also, re the cold fronts... Ours rotate clockwise around a low, therefore ours go in the proper direction (just don't ask about winds around a high) :wink:

this flat spell is really driving me mad, it's my last week at home, usually the swell is pumping at this time of year, and i normally go back to school before i get to surf the hurricane swells! but nooo...when i don't have school it's completely flat!

What a flat spell looks like on the charts....
