Which wetsuit?

Hi all,

Which out of these winter suits would you go for and why?

Im just torn between them thats all ! and if price/make really does make a differance with net prices? etc

Am not botherd about colour etc just if its quality or not for north east uk waters

if your gonna buy off the web, and you have a surf shop nearby, this is what i suggest you do. go to the shop, try on those suits and find which one you like and then order it offline. talk to the shop owner about which one is best. because every wetsuit fits differently. thats why i wouldnt recommend just buying one of the internet.

IMO the 90 quid one wil be the poorest on the tech front but that dont matter if none of them fit.

i think it's best just to save up for the best one you can get.
i'm not saying go get a $400 o'neill psycho 2, but try to avoid the cheap ones.
buddy told me before, a wetsuit is what makes a surfer happy out in the water.

but like what the other people say, go in a surf shop and ask, give them a price range, and just talk to them.

Cheers for the advice but to be honest there is only one surf shop where i am which only stocks a couple types of suit, all out of my price range and none of which of the type i listed.

Im quite happy at what size i need as ive hired suits in the past granted they were summer ones not winter hopefully that wont make much differance

I know it seems lazy but with work being hectic and the surf shop being miles away i dont have time to go and try on loads of suits i cant afford, that why the net seems a better option, with free delivery and pretty good returns for most sites if it doesnt fit properly. other than that its one of those o'neil stores but here thats pretty much aimed at fashion and limited on actual surf hardware sold.

thats why i was after opinions on these suits as they are in my price range due to the fact at some point i will have to buy boots and gloves for the winter

Wetsuit sizes (and shapes) vary hugely from manufacturer to manufacturer. And as you say, you've only tried summer suits, which also makes a huge difference.

Its not just lazy, its stupid.

Just one point and question i have before i am finally shamed into kook/noob vile forever is....

i was only looking at the net as some prices are more affordable than a shop ( i know everyone has to make a living!) and you can send the suit back if it doesnt fit and try the sizes either side.
so my problem is IF i go to my local surfshop try on their £250+ suits and find one that fits i cant afford it! but then if i look at the net and find that suit it may save me 50 quid but at £200 i still cant afford it!

so to try and help this matter are there any makes out there that fit like each other eg are there any c/skins/billabong/rip curl etc that have roughly the same fit as a Gul suit ? and vise versa, so i can try those and have a better idea.

I ordered mine off the net for the same reason and knowing that most places offer returns...

First one didn't fit so just returned & replaced with one that did....

Sorry i've got nothing better to offer other than i have a ripcurl F-bomb medium for kitesurfing and ameduim tall e-bomb for surfing with. Both fit me fine. So it would seem that even with the same brand there can be fluctuations in the sizes from one type of suit to the next.

You just have to try them on to find out which fits you best. Also remember when dry and new your wetsuit should be a very tight fit and quite difficult to get on and off to the point that you wouldn't want to do it more than 3 times in a row.
Any looser and it is too big for you as it will loosen up with water in it.

Anyway, Xcel suits are pretty good. For a tall, a bit lanky person (6-1, 185 lbs), their Large-Long fit much better than the Oneils and Quicksilvers I tried on. And even between the types of suits within a single brand like Oneil - Psychos will fit differently than their other lines.

I recommend the Xcels for price and reports on durability, and my experience with fit.

my buddy thought it would be cool to get a discount wetsuit, instead of a nicer one from the shop. he ended up quiting surfing when the water got below 65 F and he sucks now.
