my bic weighs almost as much as me!?

i know bics are not light surfboards to begin with - that said, my 7'9" bic weighs a shit-ton. i always just thought it was supposed to be like that though. but the other day i was surfing with a girl who had a brand spanking new bic 10' noserider, and her longer board was significantly lighter than my 7'9". could this be because my board (a former rental i picked up cheap) has taken on water? i didn't think it was possible for those to take on water like that (heard they are indestructable). either way the thing still floats me just fin and i can surf it just fine - was just wondering if someone could tell me why it is jso heavy.

Its probably a ton, but of course a solid epoxy board is gonna way a ton. Thats why i think bics suck, I know nsp are a lot lighter cuz they dont use a true epoxy, But mabye bic chnged there materials. Either way i hate them and think they should stick to pens.

The Bic's we use in the Surf team at Bangor dare heavy in comparasion but not that heavy!

Is it solid or hollow? also check its not got a leek and taking on water :p

I have an epoxy board....Isnt a BIC though, 700 retail :wink:

But I got in decent cheap, It barley weighs anything at all. 3 Or less pounds probably.

i dont think it is taking on water. it does have a tiney hole on the top side of the tail, couldnt even fit sand through it, and i plugged that full of wax. other than that thought, i didn't think that bics could take on water, thought they were pretty solid (why they are so heavy). i mean, it is heavy, but i didn't think anything of it, thought it was supposed to be that way - floats/rides fine and all. i just was a little concerned when i came across this other bic that was over two feet longer and inches wider and significantly lighter. does bic use different materials on different boards maybe??

Tis strange, pehaps as demand has increased they have changed the production methods as u suggest and are using different material. might explain a few things.

yeah its a nEW MODEL THAT could WEIGHS LESS because THEY COULD HAVE REFINED THEIR TECHNOLOGY (sorry) um, yes mines really old and weighs a lot, so if yours is it could just be that?

i don't think its that old, but i did buy it as a used rental board, so no telling really how old it is. maybe a couple years
