Wetsuits for tall lanky people

Wetsuits for tall lanky people

Postby xswind » Tue Jun 05, 2007 5:23 pm

Question is where to find a supplier of "off the shelf" wetsuits for tall people.

I am 6 foot 5 inches tall with a 34 inch waist and a normal to slim build.
I am having real problems finding a wet suit that I can get into.

I have tried the "medium tall" varieties and struggle even to get them over my foot let alone my knees and then the rest of me.

That size must be made for a match stick.

Can anyone help with some suggestions?

With a 34'' waist you probably need a Large Tall. You can check size charts here

You want to try being a shade under 6 ft with broad shoulders but next to no bloody waist!! Small/Tall - funny how you can never find any in stock!!!

I am 6'2" with a 34 waist with broad shoulders weighing 190 pounds. I wear a XLT and if fits perfect. There are places that will custom make them for you and they are not much more then the price on the rack. Aleeda in Huntington Beach California will do custom jobs.

I trawled all around newquay, every shop and tried loads of different brands.
The main problem seems either.

I can not get my feet through the bottom of the leg hole.
Or I get the suit on but have a squeeky voice.

I have looked at quite a few websites and most of the size charts and thier measurements just do not tally with my actual size.

Now the "Large Tall" from various manufactures look good until I put them on, they go on but I need a huge belly to fill them. Strange getting a business suit to fit well is not a particulr problem for me. The other option is the Med Tall but no way do my feet go through the holes, nor do they fit around
my normal sized legs.

Now I am not an abnormally shaped tall guy either.

Just trying to avoid the made to measure but it is looking like a trip somewhere to get measured, then a wait for it to be made then another trip for a fitting etc.........

I'm same as you, 6'4" with a 34" waste. I've always had a nightmare getting a good wetsuit fit.

I just bought an Xcel 3/2 - large tall, fits great - the guy in the shop said Xcel do a bigger range of sizes than a lot of brands, so maybe worth checking them out, it's a nice wettie too.

Otherwise, I always used to get Snugg suits made to measure, they're in Newquay, really good suits, and getting the right fit on a winter suit is so important.

6'4", 230lbs (how many stone would that be?)
XLT fits snug and keeps me toasty. Waist is a bit larger at 38", dunno if that would make much difference...

drink beer all the time and your belly will soon grow, give it a month or 2...otherwise you could go for a custom suit which are a bit more but then you also get better quality, and it will fit perfectly and comfortably!
