ADVICE ON SURFBOARD LEASHES

Hi, I have a 7'2" board and a 6' leash and wonder if this is too short for me...the problem i keep having is that the leash gets tangled on my front foot (i'm a goofy foot) in between the toes or around the ankles...how do i prevent this because it gets really annoying. I am 5'7" and i wear the leash on my left foot...any advice would be appreciated...thanks!

I should clarify that the leash gets tangled on my front foot whenever i try to pop-up...am i doing something wrong?

thats happens to me to,i find the best think to do is check the leash isnt anywhere near my front foot while im sat waiting for a wave cos that is floats around and goes allover the showand latches on to you and it dont seemto happen that often now , hope that helped you a little bit

is it an old leash? they get kinked after a while from being wrapped around the board for so long ad that makes them coil up and wrap around you more than they should.

Also - if it;s not already, make sure your leash has a double swivel, ie, the leash can twist at both ends. This helps it untabgle itself.

These may help but the bottom line is, yes, you get that. Every surfer suffers from their leash being tangled up. Pain in the backside but one of those things you have to endure for the safetly of the sport!

im sure you do this already but make sure the plastic bit that has the leash attatched that comes out the ankle wrappybit it facing out.
i used to have a 7' leash on my 9' board which i changed so i could walk about (now 11' maybe a bit big but it was cheapo and was the shortest one left) but was told this is good because when you wipe out the boiard isnt so close to you it poses a huge threat. he was right. it did help. but i dont spose you plan to walk about your shortboard so i shouldnt think it matters.

try to make sure when you put on the leash, that the part where the leash attaches to the thing that goes around your foot.... that that part is in the back of your foot... if its in frotn it will happen easier.

I know exactly what u mean...the last time i went out my board recoiled and hit me square in the head...got a nasty bump there and a headache for the rest of the day....i guess i should go ahead with a bigger leash just for that safety reason...thanks guys!
