well there are really 3 main types.
1. nose riders, heavy glassed single fin longboards, not that easy to turn but catch waves easy. ideal for triming and nose riding. if you want to surf like they did in the 60's get one of these.
2. all round longboards normaly a 2 +1 fin setup they turn easyer and nose ride but not as well as a nose rider, catch waves realtivly easy, prob the best longboard to get if your just starting out
3 high performance, progresive longboards. these have lots of rocker there alot thiner and come as either a thruster fin setup or a 2 +1, they dont nose ride that well and are suited for bigger waves.
