I think the guy on the left in the 5th picture is worse. That huge 20 odd foot wave is about to collapse and it doesnt look like he can paddle closer to it in time, no point in duck diving that far away from it either

No, no, no... Please, no stand up at The Wedge. The water is so f***ing shallow, you're pretty much bound to break your neck if you splash. I think it has been done, but Sweet Jesu, the med crews better be on standby when anyone tries it. It's a pretty famous body surfing spot, plenty of casualties every year when it breaks. My advice, stay away.

There were some pics in today's orange county register showing people actually surfing standing up at the wedge yesterday.

On the sad news front though, a couple fishing on the jetty before they closed it was hit by a wave and washed away, now are presumed dead. :cry:
