Bic 7'3 or NSP 7'6??

Which one would be best for a 5'10 140 lb. begginer?

go for the Bic, bics are great and stable in the water especially since u are a beginer, i hav a bic of my own and i love it!!

I have the nsp pink 7'6 surf betty board.I LOVE IT.In the store they were hitting a display with a hammer and there was NO DINGS.I love my board!Nsp's are good lil boards.

Hi I'm similar height, weight. Had a Bic 7'9", just changed to NSP 7'2". Its far superior to the BIC. Good size, balances nicely and much more manouverable. The ride feels so much better. BIC felt like surfing a football.

BICS suck, stay away from it, I was about to get the NSP 7'6" (I think) the lime one, but I found a used 7'2" point blanks/patagonia board that was 700 new, 365 used, no dings, hand shaped, epoxy....I recomend you go look for a used one you like.

THATS IMPOSSIBLE :lol: anyways a chart like that would be nearly impossible to make, there are sooo many different board types, and it not only depends on what size you are but what size waves your riding. any longboard would be good for learning on. otherwise we need to answer specific questions like this.

but my thought on the problem, go with the nsp... there good long lasting boards and i think bics suck.

That's the board I'm lookin at buying.
I'm still kinda a begginer, catching green waves and managing fine.
5ft5/6ish and round 8stone. Reckon the pink betty would suit me?

I saw someone was looking for a NSP 7'2 in South Florida. I know that Sebastian Dive and Surf up in Sebastian carries NSPboards. And since the surf way down south usually sucks anyway, I know you will be making a trip up there anyway. Give it a shot.

i just purchased the 7"6 NSP board and in the bag with the gear in it (fins,leash) there was a scotch pad (sandpapery thing) anybody gt any idea what it is for i thought it mite be for sandind the shap edge on the fin or somat? any help would be welcome cheers!

I have a 10'2 nsp and it kicks ass
I hit it with a hammer hard and it didnt even dent!!!!! INSANE!!!!
I also have a town and country 9'2 performance that rocks but it would have shattered. NSP if far superior to most bic boards. To the new guy get a 7'6 NSP, you live if fl. right, it would be a good first board, you wont out grow it, and you will be able to surf it on the many waist high days. To the guy from south fl. Go to ron john surf shop at sawgrass mills, they can hook you up, thats where I got my T&C and they may have to ship a NSP from Cocoa. I now live in Gulf Shores~Keep surfing- hope that helps.

ps. got the performance T&C at sawgrass for 540$ by stu sharp and the 10'2 at cocoa for 499$. GREAT TWO LONGBOARDS IN A QUIVER!!!

Why would anyone want to hit their board with a hammer?

NSPs & BICs have their place in the world, but neither will compare to a custom board. They are good for beginners, but unless you're pretty careless with your board, it's unusual for them to get dinged too badly anyway.

As for the 'chart' idea, there are just too many variables. It's like saying "What car should I buy". Everyone will have their own ideas as to what is best but it depends on how confident you are.

If you've just started driving, chances are you aren't going to be able to handle a high performance sports car too well. Likewise if you normally drive off-road, you don't really want a sports car!

Boards are the same. If you're just starting out you don't want a paper-thin needle of a board, and if your local break is usually 1-2ft and slow, it's not going to be appropriate!

Unfortunately there is no 'all round' board - if there was, everyone would have one!

It also depends on your style of surfing. Personally, I'm not overly bothered about doing aerials etc, I'm into big carving cutbacks, tuberiding and the odd floater/ snap, so I've got myself a loose Mini-mal and it's cool for me. My friend started surfing at the same time as me and he has a 9'6 longboard and a 6'4 shortboard so he has the choice depending on his mood on the day!!

Ive been learning on my 7"3 Bic now for nearly 4 months and its a quite nice looking board its different to all the other dull bic's - has a nicer pattern, but the board is pretty xxxxx in the water I must admit. I have liked it but its let me down a lot and it could be more friendly on catching waves. Its only good for beginners because its cheap, On the other hand NSP boards suck, I would never get one. I am thinking of buying a new board now a real proper board, but im unsure on what to get
