are there jackets made with gloves attached so snow doesnt get into them? i also had a problem with snow going up my jacket when i fell down. do they fix that somehow?

im planning on going snowboarding with friends on the west coast for spring break, i thought its too warm by then, so im not sure where but they know better than i would. id like to get better equipment this time.

i have a jacket with a bit inside the sleeve that you can slot your thumb into to stop snow getting in and to stop sleeves riding up. Most makes do that, O'Neill, westbeach, quiksilver etc.

two options that work for me.

long sleeved gloves or some serious tucking of your gloves into your jacket.

or dont fall over.

You want a day glow Jump suit, stops any snow getting in under your jacket, and gives everyone else a laugh...

I have gloves that come back to like 3 inches past my wrists, and have draw strings on them there plus a pull around the wrist. So I used to tighten the wrist straps on my windstopper jacket, and then put on my gloves, tighten down them over top of the jacket, and then my shell on top of that, and then tighten the shell straps on top of the gloves, if that makes sense. Then I realized that it worked almost as well to just put the gloves over top of it all and then snug it down, that way I can use my phone on the chair lift (I know......its absolutely pathetic )

Most snowboard jackets have the bit unodoshol said, though I always get snow trapped between my glove and that bit which melts and makes it wet.

Well I didnt ever snowboard alot. I did more skiing. I assume the clothing is somewhat the same. Most jackets made for this, will have a snow skirt built into it. It is like a second layer that is about 6 inches long on the bottom of the jacket, so you tuck that into your pants, and you dont get snow up your jacket. With the gloves, i used to use long gloves too, so I never had a problem that way.

Have to search the $2 clothing store for a jumpsuit & have a camp day on the mountains.

A coat with a longer back that covers your ass is best as when you wipe on a board you tend to go down backwards and it rides your coat up and snow into your shorts. Or wear bib pants, snow pants that are like overalls. Seriously.
Gloves that have a long cuff are best. Get a pair of plain uninsulated gore-tex mitts, then wear a pair of fleece mitts underneath. If it real cold you can wear liner gloves under it all. You don't needs gloves on a snowboard and mitts will keep your fingers warmer. Get the mitts with a draw string around the cuff. Look on the mec.ca website for ideas on what to get.
If you like snowboarding better than surfing, we should trade spots. It snowed 13" overnight, finally stopped this afternoon. I can hardly wait to trade in the cold. I will even leave a jacket, mitts, bib pants, and toque for ya.....

One week last october I snowboarded 2 days surfed 3. Sweet:D

Now all I need is something better than my 2.5mm wetsuit.

I love snowboarding, quick to learn (hurts tho) and something you can do all day, cant just pop in for an hour tho.

rjd thats exactly how i feel. i sit out there for 2 hours and maybe i catch 3-4 waves, which last from 5 sec. to 1 min. the surf is usually too small to catch the face and theres so much more stuff to worry about.

There is nothing like surfing on a Saturday and then heading to the hills on a Sunday.

Got up this morning to snow capped mountains, it was 29 degrees(c) monday!!

12 weeks till the fields open , cant wait.

Shame that means the end of my surfing mostly. Hate Daylight saving time.

i agree but i want to move to colorado for a few years to get the excitement out of my system a bit, then move somewhere where i can do both. im so jaded to surfing already.

I taught in Austria and Germany for a few years and would agree with most of what has been advised in previous posts but would say it is important to have sun glasses or goggles. If it's very sunny the glare from the snow can be overpowering and can result in at the very least a very bad headache and on some occasions eye damage and though rare temporary snow blindness.
