Pro Ding-Repair

Ive just got back from my local break, and had a collision with a friend.
As a result, I now have my first ever BIG ding, its so annoying, straight thru the fiberglass and into the foam. Water seeped in too. :cry: A very sombre moment!

Just wondering if anybody knew how much proffessional ding repair starts at, its about and inch-by-an-inch big? Thought i'd look into it before I grab my brothers' trusty Sun Cure, which should work, shouldn't it?
Apparently there's quite a few people who will do a repair here in North Devon, anybody from the area and wanna recommend?

i sun cure anything. just got a ding in my board yesterday surfing down in sandbridge, some beginner hit me. i was sooooo mad. my wave, she hit my board then cut open my knee.

Yeh i know the feeling about beginners, once I was getting out back with this beginner in front of me who didnt know what the hell they were doing, a wave came in, broke in front of them, they tried to control the board and get it over the back of the wave, but couldnt. So, bash-whack, who got the brunt of the action?! Grrr, i agree, I was a beginner once, but I can honestly say I had some idea of how to handle certian situations, most people have no clue, and no respect. Its not on!! I do know you get the respectful beginners who have taken the time to learn about the rules and the ocean, maybe even booked a surfing lesson, but when you get the kooks on their dad's fiberglass longboard, its a disaster.

By the way, im just up the road from woolacombe, so either of those companies would be good. Im off to Bude tomorrow, so I think im gonna have to stick to the SunCure for this ding, I have no time for the pro repair :cry: Oh well, Ill definitely bear those others in mind if I come across another collision, cheers!

found dingos website ive never had a board repaired by them but ive heard alot of good things about them, there cheap as well

The WORST is....today on 2 occasions I'd caught the wave, just popping up when there's 4-5 people infront of me. Will they ever get out of the bloody way, how am I expected to dodge all 5 of them and still enjoy the wave? -they made little effort to get out of the way...

As for ding repairs, lent my board to my cousins friend recently (he's apparently a 'great' surfer) got the board back with 3 dings on it. Pretty big and deep the biggest being around 4" long and about 1.5" deep :(

It's only 2 and a half months old... :(

The WORST is....today on 2 occasions I'd caught the wave, just popping up when there's 4-5 people infront of me. Will they ever get out of the bloody way, how am I expected to dodge all 5 of them and still enjoy the wave? -they made little effort to get out of the way...

i had this alot today most of the time they would just stand there and look at me, a few times i started paddling for a wave only to have 2 bodyboarders right in front of me, in the end i just walked a few 100 yards down the beach out the way of them

Arrrghh its so frustrating, I feel your pain!! Its so stupid, they just watch you, making no effort to move :evil: Grrrr!!
OMG about the dings, I thought mine was bad!
Its so gutting isn't it, mines only about 2 months old too!

Thats a very good idea about walking down the beach, I can usually find an uncrowded peak all to myself muhahahaha! Not that I mind hoards of swell-boarders.... 8)

I'm with Phil on using Dingo - he just did a very expensive board for me recently.

There are a ton of shapers in Bude though - any one of them would be able to patch it up for you. I'd recommend Carl at Celtic Connection.

about those people that get in front of you. No wave is worth anyone getting hurt UNLESS it's there second time getting in your way then put 3 marks down there back and or face and they will remember that signature for a loooong time. You won't have to worry about them again.

i try not to let it get to me so long as i dont get droped in on

i tend to just move out the way of them, wont be long till they all go home and the waves will be alot less crowded

I remember getting dropped in on by this beginner a few months back. He ended up getting a wallop off my longboard across the head! (not on purpose, I swear!) It's SOOO dangerous, to him and yourself.

yea the girl that hit me was on like a 9'+ board. those things hurt. not just yourself but your boart too. i guess i lucked out in a way that i didnt have to get it profesionally fixed and could fix it myself.
