Postby Matt K » Tue Feb 13, 2007 8:07 am

Hey people,

Do they even make 5'1 Surfboards?

Anyway, Im 13 and i weight approx 60kg and im 172cm tall. Is this too short? Because i only accepted it cause it was free so yeah?

They make grom boards that are 5'1". They're funny to look at, I saw one that was like 4"10" x 15.5 x 1.75. It was pretty funny.

A guy that surfs for one of the local shops has a board that's 5'3" (I'm guessing he's like 5'9" 165lbs)
I think it's 3" thick, and that's not just in the center. That thickness is pretty much throughout the board. It's pretty crazy, he said everyone kept asking him about.

Tomcat's right. They make boards that small, basically for the 6 to 16 aged crowd, so the boards are basically proportionate to their size.

We used to call them potato chips.

lol, unless its a salomon noseless? well i have seen 5'1's aswell but they look pretty strange, anyway for free who would say no? if its impossible to surf you could always sell it and then get money to put to a board for you?

He said it was pretty cool, but also quite weird at the same time. Free & loose, but awkward paddling. He didn't have a lot to say when I saw him. It was his first time out on it, and he'd only been out for a short time.

Interesting....did you notice how he was positioned on it? Was the tip of the board like poking him in the neck? That could be painful...

From what I recall, he was centered on the board. None of it really stuck out of the water, so you're more or less swimming with something underneath you.

As for the shape, it more of an oval kind of shape. Round nose tapered back to a narrower round tail.

Victory at Sea right now...winds are supposed to switch later today, but they are still going to be howling. Besides between work and it being Valentines' Day...it's not gonna happen.
